A Christmas (Candidate) Carol 📖🎶
August 21st, 2019
While the thought of Christmas in August may give some anxiety, this is the time of year I start to get excited: I play Christmas music in the office and have even been known to dress up as the man himself 🎅
I love Christmas because it’s all about giving, so it breaks my heart that recruitment, an industry that gives so much to the world, has such a bad reputation. Then again, with high agency fees, closed-off talent networks, poor candidate experiences and high volumes of applicants flooding into ill-equipped databases, it’s no wonder recruitment is seen as a bit of a Scrooge.
To help recruitment regain its Christmas spirit and spread cheer 365 days a year, we came up with a new model that might redeem it – just like the three ghosts redeemed Ebenezer.
The new model is called Social Source, and the gift it gives in-house recruitment teams a steady supply of screened and hire-ready candidates at a fixed cost.
1. 👻🎄 Past – Get Verified and Screened Candidates
To verify past credentials, Social Source rigorously screens candidates via competency-based interviews and HackerRank-style tech tests. This means you can focus on quality, rather than quantity. What’s more, on our talent delivery platform you get a historic view of the candidates Social Source supplies.
2. 👻🎄 Present – Get Hire-Ready Candidates
All of the candidates Social Source submits are what we call ‘hire-ready’. This means that the candidates have been fully briefed on the employer, have a deep understanding about the opportunity and are ready to start within 0-3 months.
3. 👻🎄 Future – Build a Proactive Talent Pipeline
I’ve always spoken about reactivity in recruitment and the fact that oftentimes you hire for the same skills. If you’re not hiring, you should still be recruiting. Social Source enables our employer partners to consistently pipeline and build skillset-specific talent networks.

We promise you: it’s the gift that keeps on giving all year round.
God bless us, everyone!
